Sentinel Shield Safety Infrastructure

Sentinel Shield is designed first and foremost as a teacher-controlled safety support system. It exists to protect educators and school personnel during emergencies — not to monitor, evaluate, track, or discipline them.

Sentinel Shield is a dedicated safety infrastructure system. Where deployed with the Sentinel Shield handheld device, the device is purpose-built for emergency assistance activation and safety-response communication only.

It is not a phone.
It is not a surveillance device.
It is not a productivity tool.
It is not an attendance system.
It is not an employee-monitoring system.

Our commitments are explicit.

Teacher Control

Sentinel Shield does not generate an emergency alert unless a teacher or authorized staff member manually initiates a help request.

No administrator, supervisor, employer, school official, or system operator may remotely activate an emergency request on behalf of a teacher.

The system is designed to support teacher authority in moments of risk, not remove it.

Dedicated Safety Device

The Sentinel Shield handheld device is purpose-built for safety activation.

The device contains:

  • no camera;

  • no microphone;

  • no GPS capability.

The device cannot record audio, record video, capture images, listen to conversations, visually monitor teachers, or GPS-track teacher movement.

Teachers are not required to install Sentinel Shield on a personal mobile phone, use a personal Apple ID or Google account, provide access to personal contacts, messages, photos, files, or use a personal cellular plan.

Sentinel Shield protects teachers without requiring access to their personal devices.

No Surveillance

Sentinel Shield does not monitor teacher behaviour, classroom activity, performance, presence, tone, movement, conversations, or productivity.

Sentinel Shield does not conduct classroom observation.

Sentinel Shield does not generate behavioural profiles.

Sentinel Shield does not score, rank, assess, or evaluate teachers.

The system exists for emergency response only.

No Passive Worker Tracking

Sentinel Shield does not perform continuous location tracking.

Location context is limited to predefined safety-response areas, such as a room, hallway, wing, office, gymnasium, playground, parking area, or other configured school zone.

Location context is used only when a teacher or authorized staff member initiates a help request, participates in an authorized drill, or uses an approved test activation.

Sentinel Shield does not create historical movement logs and cannot be used to reconstruct a teacher’s movement throughout the day.

Limited Technical Readiness Only

Sentinel Shield may perform limited technical-readiness checks to confirm that the device, gateway, network connection, and emergency-response pathway are operational.

Technical-readiness checks are not teacher-monitoring data.

They may not be used for attendance, discipline, performance review, productivity measurement, classroom observation, behavioural analysis, or labour-relations purposes.

No Discipline or Evaluation Use

Sentinel Shield information may not be used for:

  • employee evaluation;

  • progressive discipline;

  • attendance monitoring;

  • timekeeping;

  • performance management;

  • productivity measurement;

  • classroom supervision;

  • labour-relations disputes;

  • behavioural profiling;

  • or any non-safety employment purpose.

Sentinel Shield data exists to support emergency response, safety documentation, lawful reporting, and system readiness — not employment control.

Voluntary Activation

Teachers are not required to activate Sentinel Shield in any specific situation.

A teacher’s decision not to activate Sentinel Shield shall not result in reprimand, discipline, negative evaluation, adverse employment action, or criticism.

Sentinel Shield is a support tool. It does not replace professional judgment.

Union Respect and Inclusion

Sentinel Shield respects collective bargaining rights, worker representation, and existing labour protections.

Any deployment is intended to occur in consultation with applicable teacher associations, unions, worker representatives, privacy officers, or joint health and safety committees where applicable.

Sentinel Shield deployment does not waive, reduce, or override existing labour rights, privacy rights, collective agreement rights, or occupational health and safety protections.

No Feature Drift Without Notice

Sentinel Shield functionality will not be materially altered in ways that affect teacher privacy, worker rights, device capability, data collection, location handling, system access, or administrative visibility without prior disclosure and appropriate consultation.

Sentinel Shield will not be converted into a monitoring, surveillance, productivity, attendance, or disciplinary tool through software updates, local policy, administrative discretion, or deployment changes.

Plain-Language Commitment

You are not being watched.

You are not being listened to.

You are not being GPS-tracked.

You are not being scored.

You are not being monitored.

You are not being evaluated.

You are being backed — only when help is requested.

Sentinel Shield is a safety accommodation and emergency-response infrastructure, not a surveillance tool.

This commitment is public, intentional, and foundational to our product.
