Teacher & Worker Privacy Addendum

This Teacher & Worker Privacy Addendum (“Addendum”) applies specifically to individuals using Sentinel Shield in professional environments, including teachers, educational staff, healthcare workers, and other protected workers (“Users”).

This Addendum supplements the Sentinel Shield Privacy Policy and is binding on Sound Sentinel Corporation, deploying organizations, and authorized service partners.

Where this Addendum provides stronger protections than the general Privacy Policy, this Addendum governs.

1. Purpose and Scope

Sentinel Shield exists solely to support:

  • rapid assistance requests,

  • accurate location context during emergencies,

  • and post-incident safety documentation when lawfully required.

Sentinel Shield is not:

  • a surveillance system,

  • a productivity tool,

  • a performance evaluation system,

  • or a disciplinary mechanism.

No feature of Sentinel Shield may be used for purposes beyond worker safety and emergency response.

2. Absolute Prohibitions

The following uses are explicitly prohibited, regardless of employer policy or local practice:

Sentinel Shield data shall not be used for:

  • employee discipline or investigation,

  • performance management or evaluation,

  • attendance tracking,

  • behavioural analysis or profiling,

  • productivity measurement,

  • classroom observation or monitoring,

  • retroactive movement reconstruction,

  • labour relations disputes.

No exceptions.
No “internal review” loopholes.
No “administrative discretion.”

3. Worker Control and Activation Authority

3.1 User-Initiated Activation Only

  • Sentinel Shield does nothing unless the User manually initiates a help request.

  • No administrator, supervisor, or system operator can activate Sentinel Shield on a User’s behalf.

  • No automated escalation based on behaviour, sound, or activity.

3.2 Standby Mode Is Passive

When not activated:

  • no monitoring occurs,

  • no recordings are made,

  • no behavioural data is generated,

  • no alerts are transmitted.

Standby mode exists only to ensure technical readiness.

4. Location Data: Strictly Contextual, Not Tracking

  • Location context is limited to discrete spaces (e.g., room or zone).

  • Sentinel Shield does not perform continuous tracking.

  • Historical movement logs are not generated.

Location context is used only:

  • at the moment of a User-initiated help request,

  • to route assistance accurately.

Location data cannot be replayed, analyzed, or audited for non-emergency purposes.

5. Audio, Video, and Sensor Data (If Enabled)

Unless explicitly configured otherwise by lawful authority:

  • Sentinel Shield does not record audio or video by default.

  • Any optional recording capability:

    • requires explicit, informed consent,

    • is limited to the duration of an active incident,

    • is restricted to safety, legal, or insurance documentation.

Recordings may not be used for:

  • supervision,

  • discipline,

  • training review,

  • or performance assessment.

6. No Continuous Monitoring, “Ever”

Sentinel Shield:

  • does not listen,

  • does not watch,

  • does not analyze tone, motion, or behaviour,

  • does not infer intent or risk.

There are no background analytics operating on Users.

7. Data Access Controls

Access to Sentinel Shield data is restricted to:

  • the User who initiated the request (where applicable),

  • designated emergency responders,

  • authorized safety administrators only for incident response,

  • legal or regulatory authorities where required by law.

Employers may not browse, query, or audit Sentinel Shield data outside an active incident or lawful obligation.

8. Retention Limits (Designed to Prevent Abuse)

  • Incident data is retained only as long as necessary for safety, legal, or insurance purposes.

  • Deploying organizations must define retention limits in advance.

  • Automatic deletion or anonymization applies once retention periods expire.

There is no indefinite storage.

9. Union and Worker Representation Rights

Where applicable:

  • unions or worker representatives have the right to review Sentinel Shield deployment terms,

  • privacy and data-use language may be incorporated into MOUs or CBAs,

  • Sentinel Shield deployment does not waive or diminish existing labour rights.

Sentinel Shield is designed to support worker authority, not replace it.

10. No Secondary Use or Function Creep

Data collected through Sentinel Shield:

  • may not be repurposed,

  • may not be integrated into HR systems,

  • may not be mined for insights,

  • may not be combined with other monitoring tools.

If a proposed use is not explicitly stated in this Addendum, it is not permitted.

11. Accountability and Enforcement

Sound Sentinel Corporation:

  • contractually binds deploying organizations to this Addendum,

  • may suspend service if misuse is identified,

  • retains audit rights to ensure compliance with privacy obligations.

Misuse of Sentinel Shield data constitutes a breach of deployment terms.

12. Plain-Language Commitment

You are not being watched.
You are not being scored.
You are not being monitored.
You are being backed — only when you ask for help.

Effective Date

This Addendum is effective as of 24 October 2025 and applies to all Sentinel Shield deployments thereafter.
