Violence in Schools: Beyond Quick Fixes
On April 14, 2026, I’ll be tuning into “Violence in Schools: Beyond Quick Fixes,” a national panel discussion presented by the CTF/FCE’s Source. This is an important and timely conversation.Across Canada, violence in schools is no longer viewed as isolated incidents, it’s a growing complex challenge that impacts educators, students, and the broader learning environment. What stands out about this panel is its focus on moving beyond reactive responses toward solutions that are practical, sustainable, and grounded in real classroom conditions.I’m particularly interested in how the discussion addresses: • The gap between policy and real-time response • The realities educators face during critical incidents • What scalable, system-level solutions could look like in practiceThese are not easy issues, and there are no simple answers. But they do point to a need for better infrastructure, clearer coordination, and approaches that can operate effectively in the moments that matter most. This is also the kind of gap that initiatives like Sentinel Shield are intended to explore, how we can better support immediate response, improve communication, and strengthen accountability, while ensuring solutions are shaped with input from educators and institutions themselves.Looking forward to the insights and perspectives this panel will bring.
